FOR THE RECOVERING PARTNER
1)
LOCATE A CERTIFIED SEX ADDICTION THERAPIST IN YOUR AREA
A CSAT is great for establishing sobriety and helping the individual prepare for a full therapeutic disclosure when working towards relational reconciliation.
Some CSATS also specialize in trauma support and are able to help the individual connect to the root cause, emotions and triggers that have contributed to the addictive patterns and process them in a healthy way.
Other CSATS don’t have this specialty. We recommend starting with a CSAT to establish sobriety, and get through disclosure and then you can re-asses if they have the tools to help you deepen your recovery journey.
2)
If that is not possible or accessible in your area, you can find a virtual therapist or coach using the following links:
Daring Adventures (Recovery sessions available in person or online)
Jay Stringer (Coaching Intensives)
Begin Again Institute (2 Week recovery Intensive) It’s important to remember that recovery is a 2-5 year process. While intensives can kickstart the journey, make sure you have plan set up for when you come to continue your recovery journey with a practitioner that can support your specific needs.
3)
Take the SAST test — the Sexual Addiction Screening Test (SAST).
4)
Connect to a local recovery group, like a “Conquer” Group. You can find support groups through Samson Society, Soul Refiner, or Pure Desire Ministries.
5)
Read books and listen to recovery podcasts:
RecoverU podcast (Patrick and Kylene)
Pure Desire podcast
